Danielle has a very quiet calming presence. It helps folks, especially those who are also quiet, feel at ease.
Using the power point slides as a guide to the content is important as it helps to keep the facilitator on target. The slides also help participants better understand the concepts and material as they can put words together with pictures in many cases for a better grasp of the material. Don't be afraid to use the slides as a reference point as you did in this session.
The recognition of the participants when they provided thoughts, comments, stories, experiences, or feedback was excellent. That also helped to create the safe space mentioned above. Individual recognition is important to help all participants feel like they are contributing members of the group. Your personalization of the negativity bias slide made you even more relatable to the group.
Monitoring time is a skill that will come with time and practice. Every group is different and will take some practice to figure out what information can be shortened or how a session can be modified depending on the "talkative" nature of the participants.
Be more confident with the material. It is new but we believe you understand it so just share that with the rest of the group.
