Using the power point slides as a guide to the content is important as it helps to keep the facilitator on target. The slides also help participants better understand the concepts and material as they can put words together with pictures in many cases for a better grasp of the material. Monitoring time is a skill that will come with time and practice. Every group is different and will take some practice to figure out what information can be shortened or how a session can be modified depending on the "talkative" nature of the participants. Try to facilitate more rather than lecture or be instructive; we want folks to come to their own conclusions about the material. Ask questions of the participants to help draw out their thoughts and impressions. Balance personal stories with thoughts from the participants. Avoid totalizing language ie Millennials all...
