How well did the facilitator lead the group and create a safe space? Please explain and give examples.
Luis did a great job of introducing himself and the content of the session. He made the participants feel very welcome and has a comfortable presence in front of the group. His gentle approach really helped to cultivate a sense of safe space.
How well did the facilitator explain this Skill using the PowerPoint presentation? Please give examples.
Luis did a great job setting up self-compassion with regard to the butterfly and the transformation. He gave excellent examples to help further explain what was on the slides.
How well did the facilitator explain and lead the activities in this Skill? Please explain and give specific examples.
Luis' gentle style can be less effective when leading group activities. When people are in groups talking, he needs to take command of the room to make sure they know the next instructions and when to come back together to debrief. Using a bell or other auditory device to get people's attention would help immensely.
How well did the facilitator lead the Mindful Dialogues and Reflective Writing Exercises in this Skill? Please explain and give specific examples.
Very well. He was very explicit in his instructions.
What aspects of this Skill did you think the facilitator did exceptionally well? Please give examples.
Luis did a great job of introducing himself and the content of the session. He made the participants feel very welcome and has a comfortable presence in front of the group. He was obviously very prepared for the session and had a wonderful command of the information. It was clear that he was embodying this skill.
How well did the facilitator lead the Contemplative Practice in this Skill? Please explain and give specific examples.
The pace of the contemplative practice was a little fast. Slowing down between instructions will allow the participants to contemplate and reflect more.
What aspects of this Skill could the facilitator improve? Please give examples.
He should remember to facilitate and not lecture. As a teacher, it can be hard to make this switch. He should try and ask more questions of the group about the topic, such as asking what they think something means before telling them. In particular, there could be a little less "lecture" on the topic of the 8 worldly concerns.
