How well did the facilitator lead the group and create a safe space? Please explain and give examples.
Very well. Alexis showed a cheerful and friendly demeanor by smiling and laughing a lot. This made everyone feel comfortable and able to enjoy the experience.
How well did the facilitator explain this Skill using the PowerPoint presentation? Please give examples.
As Alexis gets to know the material better and becomes more comfortable in this leadership role, I'm sure she will read the wording on the slides less and put the concepts more in her own words. For a first time facilitator, she did an incredible job explaining the concepts.
How well did the facilitator explain and lead the activities in this Skill? Please explain and give specific examples.
Alexis chose to defer to me on leading the group activities but she is scheduled to facilitate Skill 9 next, and I expect that she will take an active role in facilitating that activity-rich skill.
How well did the facilitator lead the Mindful Dialogues and Reflective Writing Exercises in this Skill? Please explain and give specific examples.
As this is a course with all FIT's, we chose to discuss the mechanics of facilitating this activity as opposed to actually doing it, but she demonstrating her understanding of the importance of giving clear instructions and pacing this activity.
What aspects of this Skill did you think the facilitator did exceptionally well? Please give examples.
I was most impressed with the way she invited dialogue especially around asking participants what they thought a particular image or term meant to them. She responded well to their replies and facilitated productive discussions.
How well did the facilitator lead the Contemplative Practice in this Skill? Please explain and give specific examples.
What aspects of this Skill could the facilitator improve? Please give examples.
At times Alexis talked a little too fast but she is aware of this and I suspect that as she becomes more comfortable in this role, she will slow down. Alexis has great potential as a facilitator. As she becomes more familiar with the concepts, she will be a tremendous asset to the program. She has great interest and enthusiasm, and I am so pleased to have her involved.
